We’re very pleased to welcome Mariko Takeuchi as our new Executive Director. She will be stepping into the role full-time in March and has been working closely with our outgoing Executive Director, Heiner Baumann, and the Coalition’s member leadership to ensure a smooth transition.

As founder and CEO of Margin Innovation, Mariko has spent years designing responsive and inclusive strategies for smallholder agriculture and international development. She has lived in Africa, Asia, and now Latin America, and has worked across complex, low-resource settings, helping people understand farmers’ perspectives and getting work done – aligning strategies, bridging divides, and scaling impact. We’re excited to have her!

Mariko’s leadership will build on the Coalition’s successes and amplify our collective efforts to support smallholder livelihoods through regenerative agriculture and climate action.

We acknowledge our announcement comes at a time of great turmoil in development assistance and profound challenges confronting our colleagues and partners across the globe. Our sector has demonstrated innovative solutions and resilience in responding to the livelihoods and systems disruptions brought on by the pandemic. It is with that same spirit and radical reimagining of connection and collective action that we move forward together today.
